China Castle

China has many castles and fortress-like structures, with some dating back thousands of years, reflecting its rich history and cultural heritage. Among them, the Chengde Mountain Resort, a vast complex of palaces, temples, and gardens, served as a summer retreat for Qing dynasty emperors. The Great Wall, although primarily a defense structure, includes fortress-like watchtowers and garrisons that resemble castles. Additionally, the Tulou of Fujian, large circular or rectangular fortified dwellings built by the Hakka people, are often considered castle-like structures due to their defensive design. These historic sites highlight China's architectural evolution, blending practicality with intricate artistry to protect and house communities and royalty.
